GLN English Club –Smoking in public

3:00-3:30: Breaking the ice
• Play an interesting game: Draw pictures to guess the words given
3:30-4:00: Discussing in pairs
Work in group to discuss these questions:
• Do you smoke? If yes, where do you often smoke? at home, at
school?
• What do you think about smoking in public? Should or
shouldn’t? Why? (reduce stress or harmful to health…?)
4:00-4:05: Watch a video : “ The bad effects of smoking”.
4:05-4:15: Break for a moment
• Listen to English songs
4:15-4:45: Discussing in groups
• Should tobacco factories be closed? Why?
=> Two groups will debate against each other in 10 minutes
4:45-5:00: Expansion Activities
• What should “we”do to help reduce smoking habit around us?

SMOKING IN THE PUBLIC

In this day and age, smoking becomes common things for the people. They
always smoke without concern about the surroundings. Some people thought smoking
can liberate their tension and can relax their mind. How about the non-smoker?
Are they release tension ,too?or they will get the secondhand smoke?. Actually,
smoking gives a lot of negative effects for both smokers and non-smokers. Smoking
harms to our bodies in many ways. It is especially harmful to the lungs of a person with
asthamas. Tobacco smoke is a powerful trigger of asthma symptoms. Moreover, it also
causes some cardiovascular diseases .
Usually,smokings are allowed at the sideways ,restaurants and also in the
community centers. These places have a lot of people,including children,the old and
women who get pregnancy. Automatically,
The people surroundings will become the secondhand smoke .The secondhand
smoke can harm to cardiovascular system in many ways. One typical example is that it
causes coronary heart diseases like heart attack. It also causes blood vessels. Besides, it
also has effects on the children.It can disturb the physical and cognitive development of the
children. According to WHO’s recent research,smoke causes children between 150,000 and
30,000 cases of respirator infections.
In summary,smoking in the pulic shoul be banned but it is not easy to execute.
Therefore, smokers should consider benefits of people surroundings.

Cardiovascular: (thuộc) tim mạch
Coronary: (giải phẫu) hình vành
Cognitive: nhận thức
Respirator infection: Nhiễm trùng cơ quan hô hấp
