“Who are you in the future, Leader or Manger?”

Todays, leadership and management are two important skills which help you succeed in the future.  The Saturday meeting last week helped us have deeper knowledge about the difference between them. That is the way they motivate the people who work for or follow them, and this sets the tone for most other aspects of what they do. Also, we had really exciting discussion about the famous statement by Warren Bennis, Ph.D “Managers are people who do things right, while leaders are people who do the right thing". The meeting was really wonderful!
As usual, we started the meeting with a very funny game. Perhaps, you have still had in your mind the poker-faced of Mr.Nguyen when his name was spoken out. Also, you must have kept the images of crazy dance which the first group of the losers is punished in your memory.

After the game, we began to discuss dramaticallyquestions in the given handout. The discussion became hottest than ever when Mr. Ducgive his opinion bout “leadership verse management”. Another question came – “How can we distinguish among leader, manager and CEO?” It seems to be really an interesting and difficult question. Luckily,at last, all of us could come to the conclusion: CEO refers to position of a person who has responsibilities as a communicator, decision maker. Leader refers to the role of a person who sets a specific goal, whereas manager refers to the role of a person who sets how to achieve the goal. They are completely different concept.

Next comes the very short meaningful videos before the last part of the meeting.

Inthe presentation part at the end of the meeting, we are absolutely fascinated. We talked about the famous statement by Warren Bennis, Ph.D, “Managers are people who do things right, while leaders are people who do the right thing" in group of five people and learned many new and interesting things about what a leader and a manager should do. The difference in this statement is only on the word “right” in different position of noun phrase, but there is big story behind that.

We had really wonderful moments together by discussing the topic, making friend, practicing English as well. In other words, the meeting was very successful, thanks to your enthusiasm. Thank you so much and hope to see you next week!
