[GLN EC NTD] Topic 19/01: Cohabitation


                                          “Why Buy the Cow, When You Can Get the Milk for Free?”
 
It’s no secret that many couples are cohabiting, that is, living together in a sexual relationship without marriage. Currently, in Western countries 60% of all marriages are preceded by cohabitation, but fewer than half of cohabiting unions end in marriage. Another fact is that more than two-thirds of married couples in the US say that they lived together before getting married. Are those figures surprised you? Do you know what makes cohabitation being more common even in Asian culture like Vietnam. Let’s come and share your opinions on the issue.

2:45- 3:30: Discussing in pairs
         What is cohabitation? What initially appears in your mind when thinks of a couple is cohabiting?
         What are advantages and disadvantages of cohabitation?
         What are the possible outcomes of cohabitation?
         Can you analyze the saying: “Why Buy the Cow, When You Can Get the Milk for Free”?

3:30 – 3:45: Playing games

3:45- 4:30: Working in group
Illustrate the daily living of a young couple who is cohabitating. The play should demonstrate the negative outcomes of living without marriage.
