GLN EC: "How to learn English effectively"

English plays an increasingly important role as the door to access to the worldwide knowledge around us. It also likes a passport for the journey to the success, but how to learn English most effectively is a big question for all learners. At the aim of shortening the process of conquering English, GLN EC, along with 20 participants discussed excitedly about the topic "How to learn English effectively".

It is widely known that learning foreign languages, especially English is becoming increasingly important in modern society, but how to learn it well is still a difficult question for many people. Even though you have learned English for 5 years, 10 years or even longer, what you can achieve is very little. "How to learn English effectively" is a common issue which gets the attention of many people. In spite of a period of stressful exam, the number of participants was more than the last meeting.

After making friends with each other, everyone watched a clip that introduced about London - the capital of the country where their citizens are native English speakers. The next part was working in pairs. According to the meeting’s outline, we talked about some questions related to the topic such as “To you, what the most difficult skill is in English: listening, writing, speaking, reading and how to improve them, or what the useful and truthful sources to learn English are”. However, differently from the last meetings, after 15 minutes, each pair randomly chose questions and there were two teams having the same question. Then, two teams presented in turn their ideas within 2 minutes, one of them was rewarded for better presentation. Especially, all teams performed very well both their English and presentation skills. Therefore, some meaningful gifts were given to five most brave and excellent members.

When finishing working in pairs, the hall took part in an exciting game called "Conditional sentence". Players were divided into two teams, the pieces of paper were delivered to each member. The first team wrote down "If clause" and the second was "main clause". The combination by chance between if clause and main clause made conditional sentences interesting which burst the hall into pleasure laugh. Among conditional sentences, we were most impressive: "if you are a billionaire, I will love you". Well matched! The game created a comfortable atmosphere in order to go on discussing. There were two teams with two topics in the part of working in groups. While the first group enthusiastically discussed the question: "Computers have the ability to translate all kinds of language well so our children don't need to learn English and other languages in the future?", Another was excited to talk about "Should English become the second official language in Vietnam?" . Two teams chose their  representatives who excellently presented group’s ideas in 5 minutes.

A new one of this meeting was to listen to the video. This is an English story  named Scarlet and everyone was asked for retelling that story. After listening and taking note carefully within 5 minutes; Mr.Linh volunteered to tell the whole story. He was very excellent to capture the whole story fully and even in details. With his performance, he was deserved to reward a gift from MC.

The program finished with many happy and excited moment still leaving in participations’ minds. The interesting feeling came from not only the meaningful gifts but also from the useful English experiences which members openly shared together. After the activity, many of them still continued to share experiences of learning English effectively with others. A meeting was very successful in connecting a lot of English learning experiences together.
